Ray lantz garage inc5/25/2023 ![]() Leasa was an exceptionally loving aunt to Chelsea Howard, Jay Howard, Evan Howard, Griffin and Cecilia LeCompte, Alex and Angel Blake, and Brooke Schooley and Megan Hammond. She was preceded in death by her only brother, James Christopher (and Leeann) Howard in 2014. Leasa was the loving oldest sister of Kara Suzanne Blake and Emily Kathryn (and Gregory) LeCompte. She is the mother of EJ Martin (Brandy Martin) and the grandmother of Miles Ray Martin. ![]() her parents, James Ray Howard and Carolyn Lea Howard. Leasa is survived by her husband, Arthur Lewis Slocum, Jr. She had a heart designed for loving, protecting and showing up for her people and anyone that might have needed her. Leasa excelled at being a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, cousin, aunt, friend and neighbor. It didn’t matter what they were doing, it just mattered that they were together. She dearly enjoyed spending her time with husband Art. Leasa was a resource to others, a helper to her core, and a spot of sunshine to whoever was around her. After that she found her way to the DS Johnson and Associates insurance agency which then became her last prominent position in Morenci, helping others with any of their insurance needs. Leasa also worked for the Hope Center in Adrian, Mich., and thrived in that role helping the members of that center. She worked at Borchardt Brothers Market in Morenci as a manager and her niece and nephew had the pleasure of working alongside her for a few years. She worked for the City of Morenci in the city offices and served on the city council. Once Leasa moved to Morenci, she embraced the community. Prior to moving to Morenci, Leasa worked in the mental health field in Midland, Mich., as a caseworker, advocating and caretaking for others. She continued her education at Owens Community College in Perrysburg, Ohio. Leasa attended Thomas Kelly High School in Benton, Mo., and graduated from Bay City Western High School in Auburn, Mich., in 1979. She departed this earth March 30, 2023, surrounded and held by her loved ones, at the age of 62. The Eagle-Marry Funeral Home in Morenci is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial donations are suggested to Lenawee County Humane Society.
